Wake Forest Counseling Faculty Member Named Editor of Career Development Quarterly
Dr. Seth Hayden, a faculty member in the Wake Forest University Department of Counseling, has been named the new editor of the Career Development Quarterly (CDQ) by the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Dr. Hayden begins his tenure on October 1 and will serve as editor through September 30, 2029.
CDQ is a flagship, peer-reviewed journal in the counseling profession, publishing scholarly research on career development theory, practice, and policy. Stepping into the editor role places Dr. Hayden at the center of the field's most influential research on how people build and navigate their careers.
In accepting the position, Dr. Hayden emphasized both continuity and growth for the publication:
"I am deeply honored and excited to serve as editor of The Career Development Quarterly. I aim to maintain the long-standing reputation of the journal as a premier resource of career development and counseling research. Ensuring we continue to publish high quality scholarly work to expand our understanding of the complex nature of career development including its intersection with mental health will be a focus of my tenure. I am grateful to the National Career Development Association for this opportunity and my colleagues in the Wake Forest University Department of Counseling for their encouragement and support."
Dr. Hayden's appointment reflects the caliber of faculty leading Wake Forest's Department of Counseling Online Program, expertise that students in the program learn from directly. His focus on the intersection of career development and mental health also mirrors a growing emphasis across the counseling field, one that Wake Forest's curriculum is well-positioned to address.
